Sports Medicine

We are fortunate to have a great partnership with the best children’s hospital in the southeast, Children’s Hospital of Hospital of Atlanta.  Since 2012, they have provided us full-time sports medicine coverage for our student-athletes and sporting events as well as priority medical treatment.  We continually look to them for advancements in the sports medicine field and they are always there to support our growing needs.  Our student-athletes receive first class treatment to overcome injuries and stay at their best.  For more information and an introduction to our trainers, please READ  this letter.

Pope High School is fortunate to have two certified athletic trainers on staff full-time. Mrs. Kresta Bosley has been a licensed, certified athletic trainer for over 10 years, and in the state of Georgia since 2012.  She has been with the Greyhounds since moving from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas during the fall of 2012.  Kresta provides quality healthcare to athletes, faculty and students on a daily basis.  Kresta is responsible for the recognition, prevention, and treatment of athletic injuries of all student athletes at Pope.  Kresta, her husband, Roger, and daughters, Lexie and Ellie, can be found attending many Pope athletic events.

Kelly Brown begins her first year with CHOA and her first year at Pope.  She interned as a par tof her masters program through Life University in the spring of 2016 at Pope.  Kelly is a Cobb County native, graduating from Wheeler High School.

The Pope athletic department has developed partnerships with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) that have enabled our athletes to be evaluated quickly and efficiently.  With our partnership with CHOA came another connection with the physicians at Children’s Orthopedics of Atlanta (COA) for Team Doctor services.  Dr. Melissa Christino is our official team doctor, but the many other great physicians within her group provide tremendous services to our athletes when called upon.
